About me

I am a Family and Consumer Sciences educator with over ten years of experience supporting student growth, academic achievement, and career readiness. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Studies with a concentration in Early Education and a Master of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences. My work is grounded in a strong belief that all students can succeed when they are supported, challenged, and genuinely valued. I lead with heart, structure, and high expectations, creating a warm and welcoming environment where students and families feel seen, supported, and empowered. I design and deliver instruction that connects classroom learning to real life application, guiding students toward earning industry based certifications while building both competence and confidence for their future. My teaching is rooted in a growth mindset. I encourage students to push beyond limitations, take ownership of their learning, and recognize their ability to succeed. I approach instruction through a culturally responsive lens, ensuring that my classroom reflects and respects the diverse backgrounds and experiences of my students. I am intentional about building strong relationships with both students and families. I maintain clear systems and high expectations while providing the structure and encouragement students need to meet them. I bring a nurturing presence balanced with organization, consistency, and a focus on measurable growth. Earlier in my career, I worked with seasonal migrant families through CAPCA Head Start, where I implemented early childhood curriculum and conducted home visits. This experience strengthened my understanding of the importance of trust, communication, and meeting families where they are, and it continues to shape my approach to education today. I approach challenges with a solution focused mindset, viewing obstacles as opportunities to learn, adjust, and improve. I am committed to continuous growth both personally and professionally, grounded in reflection, resilience, and consistent effort. My goal is to create meaningful learning experiences that increase engagement and prepare students not just for academic success, but for life beyond the classroom. I am passionate about helping students develop confidence, practical life and career skills, and a mindset that allows them to thrive in any path they choose.
